A lovely, chocolate box cottage in the centre of the beautiful conservation village of Winster. This charming cottage is perfect for a family or group of friends and retains many of its original features, such as exposed beams and stone fireplace but also has a contemporary twist with its boutique-style décor and furnishings. The bedrooms are all very tastefully decorated with added quirky soft furnishings and lovely deep stone windows, giving a light, pleasant feel to the rooms. The modern, stylish bathroom has everything you need to relax after a long day of outdoor activities. A delightful sitting room, featuring a woodburning stove with deep stone surround and comfy sofas, gives a lovely cottage feel, making a perfect place to sit back and chill out with your favourite tipple in the evenings. There’s a fully-equipped kitchen, complete with quarry tile-style flooring, and interesting features such as exposed stone around the lovely deep window, giving lots of natural light. It’s a perfect place to cook a lovely dinner or hearty breakfast and then eat together in the farmhouse-style dining room. Outside is a good-sized garden with views of the beautiful surrounding hills with patio furniture, making this a great place for some alfresco dining while taking in the stunning scenery, perfect for letting the kids play and run off any extra energy! Winster is a charming and interesting old village, built in pale limestone, creamy sandstone and dark gritstone. Surrounded by glorious scenery, there are two pubs providing home-cooked food and traditional ales, a general store and a Post Office. The Limestone Way footpath passes close by and there are many good routes for ramblers. For some history and exploring, Matlock Bath, Bakewell, Chatsworth House and the High Peak Caverns are all a short drive away, making this an ideal year-round destination.

Exceptional
Pretty cottage in a lovely village. Spotlessly clean and homely. Very comfy beds. Lovely views from the garden and very peaceful. We went on local walks and visited Bakewell, Buxton and Matlock. It’s a lovely walk to the village of Birchover where we had an excellent Sunday lunch at the Druids Inn. The owner was very responsive to our questions prior to our stay which I found really helpful.

Lovely cottage, the village beautiful. Had numerous texts from the owner Jo which was very nice. The only problem for me, was a section of low wall on the right side of the garden at the back. On the other side of that wall was a drop of 10 feet or more with steps going down to next doors cellar, if a dog decided to explore or children playing and lost there footing it would be terrible. For me that really is the only thing that needs to be changed, wouldn’t take much to rectify.

Cosy picturesque cottage in a lovely little village close to excellent local attractions like Chatsworth, Haddon Hall and Bakewell. Lovely welcome pack and great communication. The only reason it’s not a five star review is that there was only one bathroom/toilet that wasn’t on the same floor as the bedrooms, but it’s a period cottage so that’s to be expected.

Fantastic location. Nice secure garden. Combi boiler provided ample hot water on demand. Lounge/dining space good and spacious bedrooms. As a dog owner (and holiday let owner) myself I do appreciate the challenges of keeping a property in good condition. However the property is a little tired. For example the pillows were poor and needed to be replaced. The doors to the bedrooms need adjusting as they do stick on the carpets. I would also put a stair runner on the stairs - they are very steep and don’t really lend themselves to a surface with little grip. The paintwork could have benefitted from a refresh especially in the dining area. Finally, due to the rather limited space in the kitchen …

The cottage was well located in a pretty village with great local walks. The information given in the listing was inaccurate, the cottage did not have a fridge freezer it had a small fridge with very small icebox that was largely iced up. The oven had a door that dropped when opened and had to be lifted to close. We felt that the stairs should be carpeted and that the lounge furniture was uncomfortable with large seats but poor back support. The general cleanliness of the cottage was not great. We stayed for 2 weeks and were asked to vacate the cottage for 4 hrs at the end of week 1 for the cleaning team. Great until we realised that all that had noticeably been done was a change of bed line …
