  Perfect except……….

  Oh dear. El Ray is just so wonderful. If it had two bathrooms, it would be almost perfect. And there’s so much space to do this. \r\nBut the BIG issue is that the glass doors are impossible. We just managed to open the only working window a little. We were there when temperatures were sky high and the thought of being able to open up the house made us book …….but it was impossible. \r\nAs to recommending to others, we would but only if there are 2+ strong people. \r\nSuch a shame.

  El ray

  We came to Dungeness to relax in this beautiful building with an incredible un-interrupted view. The space is calm and minimal with the train carriage adding nostalgia. Some of the dwellings on the beach still have the carriages as extended homes. These were used to transport the workers who were constructing the power station at the time. The architectural design is perfect living space with the sun patios to escape the wind and the lower bedroom window where you can look out over the landscape from the bed. The windows are heavy to open but this is reassuring as they are enormous and need to be substantial to protect from the weather. A joy to sit in front of the cosy wood burner on a cold …

  Superb place to relax....

  An absolutely fabulous weekend ! Indulged in views, enjoyed the wonderful weather, and the house is just perfect.\r\nFrom cooking in the carriage, to relaxing in front of the wood burner, a lovely walk on the beach and listening to the waves from the deck with a glass or two of wine, was all extremely relaxing. A great couple of day trips out to Hastings, and Rye, which were truly enjoyable. We cannot wait to go back!

  Another wonderful stay at El Ray!

  This was our second (but longer) break at El Ray and as expected it didn't disappoint. If you love Dungeness then this is the most perfect place to stay. It offers peace and quiet, stunning views of a huge sky and of course the sea literally on your doorstep. El Ray is a very comfortable place to stay. It is fully equipped with a stylish interior and a great log burner for the colder evenings. Both our visits have been in October but even then, in the sunshine you can sit out on the deck and enjoy the fresh sea air. El Ray is a very special and unusual place in a landscape like no other in the UK!

  A magical stay from start to finish.

  From the moment we arrived at El Ray, we were completely blown away. The house seamlessly blends the contemporary with the old fashioned (a train carriage kitchen) and every view from inside the house is considered and tasteful. We didn’t want to leave and will definitely be back. With the beach on your doorstep and every comfort you could ask for, it is the perfect getaway.

  Excellent location, but serious maintenance issues

  We choose the property for its location and direct access to the beach, we had seen in a previous review that the doors were difficult to move, but assumed this would have been resolved.\r\nClearly this was not the case, I consider myself fit a strong and struggled to open door other than to squeeze through.\r\nWe raised the issue with owner and bloom stays, no reply, all very disappointing
